The Founder

Soufia, the Woman Behind Izyls

Soufia was born and raised in Morocco, growing up surrounded by drawing and textile-making, a passion she picked up from her father that shaped her eye for craft from an early age. Trained as an engineer, she went on to spend several years in France and then Ireland, a journey that left her steeped in different cultures before drawing her back to what had always caught her eye : handmade home décor. Over two years, she sought out artisans in Morocco and South Africa with real care, choosing them for the quality of their materials and their age-old skill, staying true to proper craftsmanship rather than churning things out on an industrial scale. Out of that search came Izyls : a collection of one-of-a-kind pieces, made by hand, where authenticity meets contemporary elegance.

Our Craftsmanship

Two Continents, One Exacting Standard

Our pieces come to life in Morocco and South Africa, shaped by artisans chosen for their materials, their quality, and skills handed down through the generations. Basket weaving, pottery, textile work : each technique tells of a culture, each variation tells of a hand. It's this direct relationship with our artisans, with no middleman in between, that gives every piece its own character.
